Hi! My name is Yonita. I ‘m a freelance artist and illustrator based in KwaZulu-Natal, South Africa. Black ink, watercolours and digital mediums are my current weapons of choice. I’ve been drawing since . . . Always. : )

My inspiration usually comes in the form of great stories, epic music, my spiritual experiences, and most especially Mama Nature. Birds and the botanical world have an extra special place in my heart.

I’ve spent most of my life studying a range of topics including genetics, botany (particularly psychotropic plants), design and brand communication, writing and spirituality. I’m also a bookworm (did you catch the reference?), food appreciator and cartomancy enthusiast. I’m really into paleobiology right now. I can’t help it. I’m curious by nature.

This eclectic background of interests and passions has pulled me towards styles that are highly detailed, honest and whimsical; it’s a sort of marrying of appreciation for the outer reality we exist in and the inner world of my own imagination. I love to create and share art that’s infused with my love and authenticity. I love people and projects that are authentic, and illustrations that elicit wonder.

If you’d like to collaborate or commission an artwork, please do get in contact.

Some of my art is available on RedBubble and as posters on Displate. I also have a blog, Expanding Sapience, where I explore many things and share my experiences.
